Hi, I’m Morgan!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in adolescents (ages 16+) and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and difficulty coping with medical problems. As a therapist, I believe that everyone is capable of change and healing, regardless of your circumstances. I utilize a strengths-based and systems approach, with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral and solutions-focused interventions.

My hope is to develop a therapeutic relationship with you and earn your trust to work towards your personal goals. I understand the daunting task of finding the right therapist, and I would love to connect with you to help you overcome barriers to find true fulfillment and contentment in your life.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University and my Master’s degree in social work from Abilene Christian University. I have experience working in schools, counseling centers, and in the UVA health system. In my free time, I love walking my dog Maggie, exploring the outdoors, and trying new restaurants around town!

MY PHILOSOPHY

My approach to therapy is to start with strengths and systems. That means together we’ll identify your individual strengths that are unique to you, and brainstorm ways to cultivate and build upon those natural strengths. Yes, you already have the tools you need to face the challenges of your life. Let’s develop what you’ve already got. Additionally, we’ll analyze the systems that are around you (family, work, community, society) and how they play a role, whether positively or negatively in your life. The complex systems you’re connected to might be posing an obstacle to your growth. We’ll talk about how to turn the obstacles in your life into stepping stones through challenge.

I firmly believe that starting therapy today doesn’t mean you’ll be in therapy forever. My ultimate goal is to help you develop the skills and tools that are within you, so you don’t feel like you need to come see me for the rest of your life.

Sound like what you’re looking for?

You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
